Exploring Makati

A Photowalk Adventure with Kristel from Bacon Cheese Pet Photography

There’s something special about the rhythm of a city, especially when you’re wandering its streets with a friend. Bergado Photography had the wonderful opportunity to join Kristel, the creative mind behind Bacon Cheese Pet Photography Studio in Manila, Philippines on a photowalk through the vibrant streets of Makati and around Ayala Triangle. While we both share a passion for photography, our busy schedules and the fact we are on opposite ends of the world often keep us from exploring together. So this day was a much needed escape from our routines, allowing us to reconnect with our love for capturing life through the lens.

As we stepped out into the bustling streets of Makati, the energy of the city was lively. Skyscrapers loomed above us, their glass facades reflecting the warm sunlight, while the hum of traffic and chatter filled the air. Armed with our cameras, we set off with no particular destination in mind—just a shared enthusiasm for discovery and the beauty around us.

We wandered through narrow alleys adorned with street art, capturing candid moments of daily life. Kristel has an eye for detail and composed shots that brought out the unique character of the neighborhood. From the playful graffiti on the walls to the colorful street vendors, every corner offered a new perspective worth capturing.

Our photowalk allowed us to not only enlist in our street photography skills but also engage in deep conversations about our creative journeys. And After a couple of hours of wandering, we decided it was time for a well deserved break. We strolled to our next stop and couldn’t resist the allure of the many cafes dotting the streets of Makati. Cafe hopping has become a cherished ritual for us and we were on a mission to find the perfect spot to relax and reminisce old memories.

Eventually, we found ourselves at Deuces Coffee Shop, a cozy little gem known for its inviting atmosphere and unique coffee blends. We settled in, excitement bubbling as we ordered their famous ube coffee. The vibrant purple hue of the drink was as delightful as it was delicious. Sipping on our ube coffee, we shared our thoughts on the photos we had taken, revisiting the moments we had captured and the stories behind each shot.

This photowalk was more than just a photography session; it was a reminder of the joy that comes from exploring, creating, and connecting with friends. We don’t go on photowalks often, but this day was a refreshing reminder of the beauty that can be found in our surroundings and the friendships that enrich our creative lives.

As we wrapped up our day with a few more sips of coffee and laughter, we felt a renewed sense of inspiration. The streets of Makati had shared their stories with us, and in return, we had captured fragments of their essence through our lenses. Here’s to more adventures, more explorations, and more moments spent with friends who share our passions. Until the next photowalk!
